In 1983, Jaroslava Brychtová leaves the center for fusing glass in Železný Brod and, together with her husband, she opens her own studio with a quality base for making fused sculptures. Their work reached its peak in the 1980s. During this very fruitful period, they made a whole series of sculptures (Metamorphoses, Seats, Heads and Thrones). The dominant sign of this period is a clearly built composition of the object, where the authors work with shifting the geometric surfaces of the objects, layering and blending them. They also return to colorful glass, thanks to which the objects gain heretofore unknown optical qualities. In visual perception, the object is modeled with the colorful intensity of the light shining through.

Spaces belong to the most suggestive sculptures from the early 1990s by this artistic duo. They are created through the blending of two individual geometric bodies - a full prism, through which a smaller prism permeates. This principle creates a work in which a “fourth” dimension is dynamically expressed in the glass by perceiving the missing body within the matter of the sculpture. The artistic duo worked on the Space series between 1991 and 1995. Five works in total were created that vary the technique stated above. These series was so significant that the authors used a photograph of it on the cover of a monograph from 2002.

The sculpture on offer, Space II. was made in 1993. Until the present it had been part of a prestigious foreign collection. It has now been returned to Prague and is offered exclusively in this auction.
